WIND GENERATION
Onshore wind generation, at ~20/MWh, represents our primary power source.
GGEP combines a world-class onshore wind resource with back-up gas turbines and battery storage to guarantee security of supply.
WIND GENERATION
Located in Gente Grande Bay, Tierra Del Fuego, Chile, directly between two of the world’s windiest cities [Rio Gallegos, Argentina, and Punta Arenas, Chile], our project site features consistent average wind speeds of 11.6m/s.
With minimal diurnal and seasonal bias, and a reliable ~60% capacity factor, GGEP achieves offshore wind performance levels in an onshore setting.
Our power architecture has been designed in partnership with General Electric. Three energy technologies combine in an off-grid setting to guarantee security of power supply.
Onshore wind generation, at ~20/MWh, represents our primary power source.
With a gas connection and active natural gas production in the region, the addition of on-site back-up gas turbines helps to secure power supply.
The addition of on-site battery energy storage systems completes the power solution, guaranteeing security of power and enabling GGEP to target a firm, Levelised Cost of Energy (LCOE) of ~55/MWh.
The wind resource assessment and power architecture has been developed in partnership with GE — one of the world’s leading turbine manufacturers and power engineering firms.
