Northern Tierra Del Fuego has a decades-long industrial past centred on oil & gas exploration and production. Though Chilean national oil company ENAP remains active in the Magallanes Region, most industry and multiple ports have long since closed down. Today, much of the local economy relies on extensive sheep farming.

Gente Grande Energy Project represents an opportunity to reverse the decline. Our project can become the catalyst for a new industrial ecosystem by investing in enabling infrastructure, developing local skills, attracting complementary industries, and creating long-term employment across the Magallanes Region.

PROJECT SUPPORT

ALIGNMENT WITH LOCAL AND NATIONAL INTERESTS

  • Local

    Our project enjoys strong local support for its plans to revive industry with a secure, off-grid site and a reliable, clean power solution. We have prioritised community outreach, engaged widely, and designed a project to align with the identity and interests of the local community.

  • Regional

    Our team has vast experience balancing natural, community, and economic interests in the Magallanes Region through previous roles held in regional government, energy, industry and tourism. Engagement with the regional government has been ongoing throughput development. We have completed extensive, multi-year environmental studies and are finalising the project’s EIA documentation. The environmental and social studies completed to date have not identified any significant issues that would be expected to prevent the development of the project.

  • National

    The project aligns with Chile’s energy transition strategy and southern development priorities. Project development continues to be funded privately and project delivery is not reliant upon public funding.
